Endocannabinoid System 101
Class is in session.
Curious about how hemp and CBD works with your body? It all starts with the endocannabinoid system. This vast and complex system may be confusing so we decided to break it down for you. Consider this Endocannabinoid System 101. The phytocannabinoid ‘cannabidiol’ (CBD) was discovered in 1940 and is only one of the 113 cannabinoids that are naturally found in the cannabis plant. Hemp, while being a member of the cannabis family, is completely different from the other well-known member, marijuana. Hemp contains only trace amounts of THC, the component that causes the intoxicating effects most commonly associated with marijuana.
The relationship between CBD and hemp is not unlike the relationship shared between iron and spinach; while iron is a big part of spinach, it is only one of a multitude of its components. CBD is only a small part of what makes hemp a well-rounded, multi-benefit product. This infographic breaks it all down.

It’s all about balance.
Simply put, your endocannabinoid system (ECS) keeps you feeling balanced by helping you maintain homeostasis.* The ECS consists of three parts: cannabinoids such as CBD, receptors, and metabolic enzymes. While each is responsible for a different task, the end goal is the same: optimal balance.*
